The Alliance for Lifelong Learning is a new, not-for-profit “distance learning” venture between Oxford, Stanford, and Yale Universities. The mission of the Alliance is to provide online courses and other educational offerings in the arts and sciences. Initially, the Alliance’s programs are being offered to the combined alumni, family, and friends of the three universities. In recognizing the potential appeal of this educational opportunity, the Alliance plans to make its offerings available to a wider audience in the future.

The Alliance provides online courses and interactive seminars; multimedia programs; topical websites that include links to research information; live and taped coverage of campus speakers, exhibitions, and events; lectures on tape; and other offerings. The three universities and their faculties control the content of the courses and other educational products offered, ensuring that they meet the highest standards.
